Aparcamiento CotosWe highly recommend using the Public Transportation to access to the Guadarrama National Park, and to move around the different villages and mountain passes.

But if you finally decide to drive, we present you as follows a map with the main parking lots available in the National Park and its environment, and as well a description of the recommended ones.

Please remember it is absolutely forbidden to park out of the designated places, and to block the forest paths accesses.


La Barranca Parking Lot

Located at La Barranca Valley, under the Maliciosa Peak, it has 200 parking places available. La Barranca valley is a lovely sight, with a large Scots pine presence, and beautifully enhanced by the surrounding heights. On clear days it is possible to see Madrid City.

La Morcuera Pass (Puerto de la Morcuera) Parking Lot

Located in the Miraflores de la Sierra municipal area, La Morcuera Pass parking lot has 80 parking places available. Since the Middle Age this pass has been the traditional and shorter way to reach Madrid from the Lozoya Valley through the mountains. This route became especially relevant when El Paular Monastery was built. The name “Morcuera” alludes the character of transit point to this place, being a “morcuera” a boundary stone raised to indicate passes or crossroads.

Not very far from the parking lot is located the Cuerda Larga starting point; and continuing direction Rascafría for a short distance you will get to the Cossío Fountain, situated at one of the most gorgeous sights of the Sierra de Guadarrama.

El Paular Parking Lot

El Paular parking lot, located in the municipal area of Rasacafría, has 170 parking places available. It is situated close to the Monastery and very near the Valle de El Paular Visitors Center and the Arboretum Giner de los Ríos, where it is possible to enjoy a high ornamental value sample of about 200 trees and bushes coming from Europe, Asia and America deciduous forests.

It is also an excellent starting point for several excursions through El Paular Valley.

Los Cotos Parking Lot

At Los Cotos Pass there are two parking lots, one of them private with 60 parking places available and a public one with 350. Los Cotos Pass is at 1.830 m of altitude and halves the Valsaín Valley in Segovia and the Lozoya Valley in Madrid. It is also the union point between the Peñalara Massif and the Carpetanos Mounts ridge at the north side, and the Cuerda Larga ridge which runs from east to west. 

Los Cotos Pass is also the starting point of the majority of the Peñalara Massif different itineraries. At a short distance from the parking lots is situated the Peñalara Visitors Center where you may get the necessary information and recommendations to visit the Park, and also make the appropriate arrangements for over 15 people groups visits.

Canto Cochino Parking Lot

Aparcamiento  de CantocochinoThere are three parking lots in the Canto Cochino area at La Pedriza. For security reasons, there is a barrier to control the access at the Camorza zone, allowing the entrance to private cars up to 270. You can check here the scheduled time to access this facility with private vehicle.

There are 10 parking places for buses that  should be booking in advance.

At about 100m from the access barrier is located La Pedriza Visitors Center.

Las Dehesas Parking Lot

In the municipal area of Cercedilla, close to Las Dehesas Recreation Area, there are several parking lots with a total of 200 parking places available. In the Recreation Area there are tables, kiosks, two cafeterias, municipal swimming pools etc. A large forest paths network runs the Valley, allowing the visitor to enjoy the forest landscape with its extended Scots pine area.

In the same road, and before getting to the recreation area, is located the Valle de la Fuenfría Visitors Center.

Parking Lots at the Navafría Pass

In the municipal areas of Aldealengua de Pedraza (Segovia province) and Lozoya del Valle is located the Navafría Pass with several parking lots handling up to 32 parking places available. The Navafría Pass is the site of the Navafría Cross-country Ski Center, where all the services to practice cross-country ski are available, information, renting material and ski school. At the parking lots are the starting points of the Horizontal path and the Nevero Peak (2.209m) path.

La Panera Parking Lot

In the municipal area of El Espinar (Segovia Province) is located La Panera Recreation Area parking lot with 100 parking places available. During the summer it is a paying parking lot because its usage is linked to the recreation area natural swimming pools enjoyment. The access to the Moros River Gorge is forbidden during the summer.

Boca del Asno Parking Lot

In the municipal area of El Real Sitio de San Ildefonso (Segovia province) is located the Boca del Asno Recreation Area parking lot with 80 parking places available. It is located close to the Valsaín Visitors Center (Boca del Asno), where the visitor can enjoy a thematic exhibition or a scenographic tour through the Valsaín Mounts showing the zone autochthon wildlife, the Pinar mount, the Matas mount and the high heights area. It is as well the starting point of several valley routes.

Los Asientos Parking Lot

In the municipal area of El Real Sitio de San Ildefonso (Segovia province) is located Los Asientos Recreation Area parking lot with 151 parking places available. In the surroundings you may enjoy several interesting routes such as the Royal Fisheries (Las Pesquerías Reales) one.

Puente de la Cantina Parking Lot

The Puente de la Cantina Parking Lot has two distinct areas, which are located on both sides of the Eresma River, in the “Canaleja” zone.  Its facilities host 36 parking places and they are a good starting point for hiking routes as the “Vereda de la Canaleja”, the “GR-10” Route, or the ascent to the los Cotos Pass (Puerto de los Cotos).
