Safety recommendations

SOME RECOMMENDATIONS FOR YOUR SAFETY

  • Prepare detailed excursions, adapt your equipment to environmental conditions, see weather forecasts, and note especially the frequent sudden changes in weather.

  • Much of the National Park of the Sierra de Guadarrama extends high mountain areas, therefore, you should be extremely cautious during the winter period.

  • There are routes in which it is essential to use hiking boots and crampons and ice axe in winter.

  • In summer protect yourself from the excess of sun.

  • Bring drinking water.

Access

  • Whenever is possible, go into public transportation and avoid the private vehicle. Vehicles should be left in the parking lots and areas enabled for this purpose. It could be a major safety problem to block the access to emergency services and park outside the areas expressly intended for this use.

Environmental behaviour

  • Follow the indications of the agents of the authority and the park staff.

  • Respect private properties, barriers, fences and fencing of the loose livestock zones, leaving the gates as you find them.

  • Be proactive and always carry a bag to store the waste until you could throw it into a container; anyway, best garbage is the one which is not produced; otherwise, best solution is to keep with you everything you brought.

  • Enjoy of all things without damaging them. The best contribution is to leave everything just as you found it. The care of this space depends of the behaviour of each visitor. Keeping the good memories of the place on your next visit will depend on the cooperation of all visitors.

  • Do not underestimate your own limitations. Go preferably accompanied and get a mobile phone with a sufficiently charged battery. For any emergency call to the 112.
