Entrance points. How to Get There?
There are several entrance points to visit the Sierra de Guadarrama National Park:
- Navacerrada Pass (Puerto de Navacerrada).
- Valsaín Valley (Valle de Valsaín).
- Los Cotos Pass, Peñalara Massif (Puerto de los Cotos, Macizo de Peñalara).
- Navafría Pass (Puerto de Navafría).
- La Morcuera Pass (Puerto de la Morcuera).
- La Pedriza, at Manzanares el Real.
- La Barranca.
- La Fuenfría Valley (Valle de la Fuenfría), at Cercedilla.
- River Moros Valley (Valle del Río Moros).
Driving
Navacerrada Pass (Puerto de Navacerrada): From the Segovia side you can access taking the local road CL-601, whose 14,3 km locates the Valle de Valsaín Visitors Center. From the Madrid side, the M-601 road leads you to the Park climbing the pass.
Valsaín Valley (Valle de Valsaín): In the same way than the Navacerrada Pass access, you can enter the Park taking the CL-601 road, whose 14,3 km locates the Valle de Valsaín Visitors Center. There are three recreation areas, El Robledo close to the Pontón Alto reservoir, and after crossing through El Real Sitio de San Ildefonso and climbing the pass, you can find Los Asientos and Boca del Asno.
Los Cotos Pass (Puerto de Los Cotos): The SG-615 road leads from Puerto de Navacerrada to Puerto de Los Cotos, and the M-604 road leads as well to Los Cotos from Rascafría. The Peñalara Visitors Center is on the top of the pass.
Navafría Pass (Puerto de Navafría): You may access from the Segovia side taking the SG-612 road from Navafría, and as well taking the M-637 road from Lozoya in the Madrid side. There are several recreation areas in that last section before getting to the top of the pass.
La Morcuera Pass (Puerto de la Morcuera): The M-611 road leads from Miraflores de la Sierra to La Morcuera pass and then to Rascafría. There is a recreation area in the surroundings.
La Pedriza: You may enter taking the M-608 road which communicates Manzanares el Real and Cerceda. At the 25,4 km take the road giving access to La Pedriza, through the Quebrantaherraduras track, and ending at the Canto Cochino parking lots. There are limited quotas and a time schedule to access La Pedriza with private cars. Just before the entry barrier, is located La Pedriza Visitors Center. You may access to La Pedriza through El Tranco. You may also reach Canto Cochino on foot, through the Quebrantaherraduras track (40 minutes).
There are 10 parking places for buses that should be booking in advance.
La Barranca: You may access taking a 3 km paved path starting at the M-607 road 55 km point, between Becerril de la Sierra and Navacerrada.
La Fuenfría Valley (Valle de la Fuenfría): You can access from Cercedilla taking the M-622 road to Las Dehesas road, the M-966. At the end of that road there are several parking lots. At the 2 km point is located the Valle de la Fuenfría Visitors Center and slightly 1 km further the recreation area parking lot.
River Moros Valley (Valle del río Moros): The access is at El Espinar Station, taking the Garganta road. About 3 km further is located La Panera recreation area. Due to conservation purposes and forests fires risk, the “Dehesa de la Garganta” mountain has a restrictive access during the summer.
In addition to those National Park entrance points, the access to the villages of the Socioeconomic Influence Area is as follows:
Lozoya Valley
Take the A-1 motorway (Autovía del Norte Madrid-Burgos), to the 69 exit, and then the M-604 road to Rascafría / Lozoya. The M-604 leads to nearly all the Valley villages. At about the 5 km point is located the detour to Canencia de la Sierra (M-629). In the 7,6 km point is available the detour to Navarredonda- San Mamés (M-634). Continuing on the M-604, you may drive across Lozoya del Valle, and further that village are the detours to Pinilla del Valle and Alameda del Valle-Oteruelo, arriving finally to Rascafría. The Valle de El Paular Visitors Center is located at the M-604 road 27,6 km point, in the Los Cotos Pass direction.
South and Southeast Zones
There are several ways to get there. You may access taking the A-1 motorway (Madrid-Burgos) up to the 50 exit at Venturada, and then taking the M-608 to Guadalix de la Sierra, and after either the M-626 to Miraflores de la Sierra or continuing on the M-608 to Soto del Real.
An alternative way is to take from Madrid the M-607 motorway (Autovía de Colmenar, Madrid-Colmenar Viejo-Navacerrada) up to the 36 exit to take the M-609 to Soto del Real. From that point, there are two options: either taking the M-608 to Miraflores de la Sierra and then La Morcuera Pass, or taking the detour (M-862) to Manzanares el Real just before reaching Soto del Real.
The third way to get there is to take from Madrid the M-607 motorway (Autovía de Colmenar, Madrid-Colmenar Viejo-Navacerrada) arriving to Cerceda, Becerril de la Sierra and Navacerrada. Just after passing Cerceda, you may choose to take the M-615 road to Mataelpino.
Southwest Zone
Take from Madrid the A-6 motorway (Madrid-La Coruña) up to the 47 exit and then the M-600 road to Guadarrama, afterwards the M-614 to Navacerrada-Guadarrama. At Guadarrama, take the M-622 to Cercedilla and then either take the M-614 to Navacerrada, or the M-623 if your destination is Becerril de la Sierra. From Becerril you may take the M-617 road to Mataelpino and El Boalo.
A second option from Madrid is to take the A-6 motorway (Madrid-La Coruña) up to the 39 exit, at Collado Villalba, and then take the M-601 if the destination is Navacerrada and Puerto de Navacerrada. From Collado Villalba you may also take the M-608 to El Boalo and Manzanares el Real.
Northeast Zone
Taking the N-110 national road, main axis for the entrance to the Northeast Zone villages of the Socioeconomic Influence Area, and then taking the V-6111 road you will reach Gallegos and Ceguilla (Aldealengua de Pedraza). Taking the V-6112 and then the SG-612 (Puerto road) you will get to Navafría. The access to Torre Val de San Pedro and the three Santiuste de Pedraza neighborhoods is available from the SG-V-2322 and the SG-V-2315 respectively. The SG-V-2366 and the SG-V-2222 allow reaching Sotosalvos and Basardilla respectively; between both villages you may access to Santo Domingo de Pirón, taking the SG-V-2362 road. The access to Trescasas is possible from Torrecaballeros or from El Real Sitio de San Ildefonso, taking the SG-P-6121 road, and to Palazuelos de Eresma taking the SG-V-2122 road. Collado Hermoso and Torrecaballeros are directly crossed by the N-110 national road.
Northeast Zone
From the N-603 national road, parallel to the AP-61 motorway, you may access to Navas de Riofrío taking the SG-V-7210 road, to La Losa taking the SG-V-7212 road, to Ortigosa del Monte either from the 79 km of the N-603 national road, or taking the SG-V-7212 road as for Otero de Herreros. The access to El Espinar is possible either from the N-6 national road and then the SG-500 road, or from the N-603 national road and then the SG-A-7225 or the SG-V-7223 roads.
