The building lodging the Visitors Center is located at the Boca del Asno recreation area, close to the CL-601 road. It is an old forest house, renovated, adapted as an interpretive center and open to the public in 2004. Its interpretive content has been updated in 2015 in order to become a Visitors Center of the Sierra de Guadarrama National Park.

Exhibitions media:

• A Sierra de Guadarrama National Park presentation video.
• A scenographic tour through the Montes de Valsaín showing the zone autochthon wildlife, the Pinar mount, the Matas mount and the high heights area. It gives as well an idea of the area necessary arrangements.
• A thematic exhibition with information boards showing itineraries of the area and information related to the National Park and the Valsaín Mounts.
• Life in the environment: an endearing audiovisual with a “father” pine tree telling the story of its life in the mountains.

Visitors may also obtain broad and multiple information on the zone itineraries and tourist information such as hotels, restaurants and monuments. There is as well a bookstore with publications of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment (Ministerio de Agricultura, Alimentación y Medio Ambiente).

Visits:

General: the visit is auto guided, except the scenographic exhibition which is guided by the Visitors Center staff. The visit takes about 45 minutes.

Groups: it is necessary to book previously (MINIMUM 15 PEOPLE).

How to get there

The access is directly from the CL-601 road connecting La Granja de San Ildefonso and El Puerto de Navacerrada. At the 13,4 km there is a lane indicating the entrance to the Boca del Asno recreation area, located close to the road. The Visitors Center is then visible.

There is no regular public transport service.
