Sotosalbos

San Miguel Church

Iglesia SotosalbosIt is a Romanesque style church limestone masonry built. Originally it had just one nave, but afterwards were added a tower and an arcade gallery, the most remarkable element of the ensemble. After the Romanesque period, another nave was added and the covers were renovated. At the inner several Romanesque mural paintings have been preserved and there is as well a small parish museum. We should emphasize the 13th century Nuestra Señora de la Sierra image, and a silver parish cross made by Antonio de Oquendo in the 16th century. It was declared Good of Cultural Interest in 1973 (Bien de Interés Cultural-BIC).
