El anillamiento de pinos y las cortas puntuales, selectivas y de tamaño reducido, liberan de competencia a bosquetes de frondosas autóctonas e imitan perturbaciones naturales de pequeña intensidad, dejando que la madera se muera y se descomponga dentro del monte, sirviendo de refugio y alimento a organismos descomponedores y fauna forestal, sin que haya una extracción de nutrientes del ecosistema.
