Amphibians: Initiatives for their preservation

portada actasYou can now download the summary book of the VII Scientific Conferences of Peñalara Natural Park that we held in 2009. The book is called "Anfibios:  Iniciativas para su conservación” (Amphibians: Initiatives for their preservation), and gathers some of the most interesting amphibians preservation initiatives of the last few years in Spain.

Of course, in the book we talk about the amphibians tracking methodology that we carry out in Peñalara Mountain since 1999 and the results of the population tendencies of the different species.  In addition, we describe the different preservation actions that we have been carrying out in the area, including the fight against the chytriodiomycosis.  We also explain in detail the functioning and the first steps of the Threatened Amphibians Captive Breeding Centre of Sierra de Guadarrama.  Outside Sierra de Guadarrama, the book also has very interesting information about ferreret's preservation program, the Mallorcan relative of our midwife toad, the restoration for amphibians in the Mediterranean area and other preservation programs, tracking and captive breeding of amphibians of Spain, like the newt from Montseny.

Although several years have passed since its elaboration, the book is a reference about the preservation of the amphibians of Spain and can be used as an inspiration for many agents and preservation groups to undertake new actions.
